Statement of Purpose
I create functional sculptures that exist at the intersection of architectural thinking and ceramic craft. Working with precise geometric forms that I methodically alter and enhance, I explore fundamental elements of architecture—scale, light, shadow, openings, symmetry, asymmetry, etc.—through the medium of clay.

My practice deliberately steps away from the wheel to forge a different path. Using architectural tools—scalpels, compasses, steel rules—I transform slip-cast forms into objects that marry modernist clarity with evident traces of the human hand. Each opening cut into a vessel creates a new dialogue between interior and exterior, between containment and exteriority.
The New York cityscape profoundly influences this work—its grid buzzing with stored and active human energy, its repetitive patterns punctuated by unexpected variations. Similarly, my ceramic pieces embrace both discipline and chance.
These objects invite contemplation, functioning as visual puzzles or koans that reward close observation. Neither purely decorative nor merely functional, they occupy that liminal space where everyday objects transcend utility to become touchstones in a home—silent companions that illuminate both space and memory.
