Overview

Each piece is designed and produced as part of a small studio practice. Due to the nature of ceramic work, variations in form, surface, and finish are part of the character of each object.

Many pieces are made in limited quantities or to order, and this policy reflects the care and time involved in their creation.

Returns, Exchanges & Policies

We accept return or exchange requests under the following conditions:

  • The request must be made within 7 days of delivery

  • The item must be unused and in original condition

  • The item must be returned in its original packaging

Non-Returnable Items

The following items are not eligible for return or exchange:

  • Custom or commissioned pieces

  • Made-to-order works

  • Items marked as final sale

  • Pieces that have been used, installed, or damaged after delivery

Damaged or Defective Items

Each piece is carefully packaged before shipping. However, if your item arrives damaged:

  • Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery

  • Include photos of the item and packaging

We will review the issue and offer a replacement or appropriate resolution.

Refunds

Once a returned item is received and inspected:

  • Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method

  • Please allow 5–10 business days for processing

Shipping costs are non-refundable unless the item arrived damaged or defective.

Shipping Responsibility

  • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs

  • We recommend using a trackable and insured shipping method, as we cannot guarantee receipt of returned items

Custom & Commission Work

All custom and commissioned pieces are final sale.

Due to the collaborative and made-to-order nature of these works:

  • No cancellations once production has begun

  • No returns or exchanges

We work closely during the design phase to ensure clarity before production starts.

Electrical Safety
All lamps are made with UL-listed components. The assembled lamps are not UL-listed. By purchasing a lamp from James Hicks Design LLC, the buyer assumes full responsibility for safe installation and use. James Hicks Design LLC assumes no liability for damage, injury, or loss resulting from electrical use, installation, or misuse of any lamp or lighting product.

Liability
In no event shall the liability of James Hicks Design LLC exceed the total amount paid for goods purchased. If any portion of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms remain in full force. All information on this site is presented accurately to the best of our ability, but no guarantee is made that published information is entirely error-free. Prices and product availability are subject to change without notice.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
