A companion to Art Nouveau Tulipiere Vase, sharing the same branching, vine-like pattern, here rendered using the Mishima technique — black slip inlaid into incised lines — rather than painted iron oxide. The glaze and bare clay are also swapped: where Art Nouveau fills the area inside the lines with glaze and leaves the ground bare, here the ground is glazed and the vine pattern itself is left bare. The same drawing, made a different way and read in the opposite register.
Slip-cast, then cut, scored, and inlaid by hand. Shown in Oregano glaze with Mishima inlay on a white stoneware body.
This piece is designed for small production runs.
