Ordering and availability
Pieces are made in small batches or as individual works, and availability is limited. We may discontinue items. Slight variations in form, surface and finish are part of handmade ceramics and are to be expected. Prices are in USD and may change at any time. Payment is required before an order is processed, and taxes and shipping are calculated at checkout. We may cancel an order because of availability or a payment problem, and if we do, you'll receive a full refund.
Production and shipping
Every piece is double boxed and securely packed. Most pieces are made to order: please allow 8–10 weeks for single items and 10–12 weeks for pairs or more. In many cases we can make and deliver sooner, typically in 4–6 weeks depending on the piece or pieces. In-stock items ship without delay. Delivery times are estimates and can be affected by factors outside our control.
We ship within the US and Canada by FedEx or UPS Ground. All deliveries require a signature. Orders cannot be undervalued or declared as gifts.
International customers should request a shipping quote. Orders ship DDU (Delivery Duty Unpaid), so you may owe customs duties and import taxes on arrival. We can't predict these charges, which vary by country. Please check with your local customs authority beforehand.
Returns and exchanges
Contact us within 7 days of delivery. Items must be unused, in original condition and in original packaging. Refunds go to the original payment method within 5–10 business days. Shipping costs are non-refundable unless the item arrived damaged or defective. You pay return shipping; please use a trackable, insured method, since we can't guarantee receipt of returned items.
If a piece arrives damaged, tell us within 48 hours with photos of the piece and the packaging, and we'll offer a replacement or other resolution.
Final sale
Custom and commissioned pieces, made-to-order works and final-sale items cannot be returned or exchanged. Custom and commission orders cannot be cancelled once production begins. Pieces that have been used, installed, or damaged after delivery cannot be returned.
Lamps and electrical
Our lamps use UL-listed components, but the assembled lamps are not themselves UL-listed. The buyer is responsible for safe installation. Our liability is limited to the purchase price, to the extent permitted by law.

All content on this site, including images, text and designs, belongs to James Hicks Design LLC and may not be copied, reproduced or used without permission.
