A rectangle-plan hollow brick, carrying the same concentric notching as the rest of the Stella group — itself a reference to a Frank Stella painting seen at the Glass House, where notches cut into the frame determined the concentric lines inside it. Here the notches are formal rather than functional: they don't open through the wall, so there's no light from inside the base, only from the shade above.
Slip-cast, then cut and assembled by hand. Shown in Weathered Blue on a tan clay body. An E26 socket on top holds the shade light.
This piece is part of a small batch but could be made in a small production run, in any glaze and any clay body.
