An early piece in the cobalt-on-white exploration, and the most symmetrical of the three — the painted decoration and the cut openings here are in a more balanced relationship than in the later Cobalt and White Lamp or Cobalt Lamp. Built from the rectangle-plan brick rather than the square-plan brick used in the other two, giving it a narrower, taller stance. Part of the inspiration came from the slit gongs at the Met, the same source behind the Yellow Slit Lamp.
Slip-cast, then cut and assembled by hand, then painted. Finished with cobalt oxide painted freehand over a glossy clear TMZ glaze. An E26 socket on top holds the shade light.
This piece is currently one of a kind but could be made again in small lots.
